New model kit and a Mothers Day Weekend!

So I’ve had a pretty awesome end of the week. Firstly, this arrived on Wednesday

It’s a model kit I ordered a couple of weeks ago from Japan. I could not wait for the weekend to build it! So it got to Saturday, went out for the usual weekend coffee, and in the book shop I found this!! I was really happy, Rob Ryan is one of my favourite artists:

and it was on sale! half price, one left. IT WAS MEANT TO BE! I find the quote funny… because I’m so anti-social. So I got home after picking some flowers up for my mum for Mothers Day (which is today in the UK) and I found these had arrived in the post (omg sorry for all the pictures!):

I was SSOO excited! I found these little gems on Ebay..get this.. £2.00 for the lot including packaging!!  I felt a little guilty, the guy who sold it to me made like 16p profit. I carefully opened them all up (60 cards in total) I got a couple of duplicates but I did pretty well,  I’ll get some photos later of my favourite ones. As for Sailor Moon SuperS, eh.. I’m not really enjoying it that much, it’s really repetitive and slow, and each episode is like 5-10 minutes of the same stock footage. Still! I’m making my way through it, I kinda knew this series wasn’t one of the better ones. So after squealing over those for a little bit I went on to build my Zoid.

It took about 5  hours to build (I know!) he came out a lot smaller than I thought as well, which added to the difficulty. Some of the pieces were pin sized, I was so nervous that one would fall on the floor and never be found again. To get a sense of scale I took a photo of it standing next to its cheaper but bigger Tomy version that was available here in the UK a couple years back. The attention to detail on the MSS Shield Liger is INSANE. I’m only really use to the cheaper motorised versions that are still pretty obtainable here (if you’re vigilant at Ebay) The smaller Liger is also very flexible and can pull off some pretty cool poses. He fits neatly into the palm of your hand, making him rather cute too :). The one thing  I noticed was the tiny little plastic parts are extremely prone to breaking off if you don’t handle it carefully. The tail gun has little D shaped pipes, and one is already loose on mine, fixable with glue mind!

To be totally honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect for £35 worth of model kit. Yea it is pretty small, but I can totally understand the pricing and I think it’s very reasonable, and lets face it, £11.50 of it was import and “handling” fees. I got my model kit from HobbyLink Japan, I was really sceptical about paying so much for one off of Ebay and finding out it’s a fake, so I had a look around and I was really impressed with this website. Really competitive pricing and I felt genuinely secure that I was getting a decent product. In fact I take back the competitive pricing thing, It’s a crud load cheaper than Ebay. I’ve already pre ordered my Liger Zero!

Sorry that kinda turned into a review!! I was thinking of doing some videos to show how poseable they are, what I found hard/easy in the making of it etc.. I think it would be good for when I get my Liger Zero too :)

My sister and I are off to see Mama tonight (hello Jamie Lanister! ;) ), as we have a 2 for 1 at the cinema, and we wanted a junky movie to watch! I’ll have to update you as to whether it’s one to watch or not…should  I make a joke that we’re going cause it’s Mothers Day?

One final thing! I’m hoping so hard tomorrow that I will be at my target weight! So far I’ve lost 3 stones (42 pounds) and I just needed another pound to be at my target. My mum and I made brownies this weekend and had people over for Mothers Day lunch, we had cakes and puddings and roast everything, but I resisted it all! please be kind tomorrow scales :)….because I really want a brownie.

Friidaayyy

Woohoo, this week has gone so fast! I guess ’cause it’s been half term and all the kids aren’t at school. I got loads of work done, I’m hoping this weekend to get some pictures of my models to put on here. Also we are hopefully going to go for a nice walk, and then to a pub! even though it’s pretty cold hehe.

Eventually I’ll get some of my art work on here too, I’m just very slow ! y’know when ever the weekend comes around I always think, man I have soo much to do! and not enough time to do it. Then I end up doing nothing…
